Mexico City for Beginners

3rd free talk, this time with Dr. Monica Moreno Figueroa, Newcastle University.

Mexico City, "el D.F" is a city of extremes: it is the capital of one of the most economically unequal countries of Latin America, and a place of exuberance, excitement, myths and harsh living conditions. What does it feel like to live in a city with over 20 million people and with extremely rapid urbanization? How people navigate their way through protests, poverty, crime, mariachi bands and unstoppable creative energy? What is a megacity and what are the political, economic, and social causes that made Mexico City one? Find out with Monica Moreno Figueroa, Mexican Sociologist and lecturer at Newcastle University.

All are of course welcome to turn-up but please note we do have limited spaces available. Find this event on Facebook to confirm your attendance at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=142351089166877.

This event is part of a series of special talks at Newcastle University which includes:
