Revolution on Paper: Exploding the Hollywood Mexican myth

Newcastle lecturer Dr. Keith Brewster uses his talk to explore the diverse political, social and cultural influences that lie behind the works found in the Hatton Gallery’s exhibition “Revolution on Paper”.

“Dusty towns plagued by drunken “desperados” with few scruples and bad breath. For too long, this Hollywood depiction of the Mexican Revolution has dominated western popular culture.  In this talk, we explode the myth to appreciate why it took place, who took part, and how it fostered a cultural explosion that sustained decades of creative art.”

This talk is free althought places are limited so we advise you reserve your place - call (0191) 222 6059 or email hatton@twmuseums.org.uk

This event celebrates the Revolution on paper: Mexican prints 1910 -1960 exhibition showing at Hatton Gallery which is on show from 23 June - 14 August.

This event is part of a series of special talks at Newcastle University which includes:
