Latin Dance Experience

DJ Monntunno and Sam Mills (from popular Afro Cubano parties) come together for a full day of dance! With the best and most popular regional instructors this is an ideal opportunity for any one who has never danced before. Lessons include Salsa, Zumba, Tango, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha and Kizomba with a special party with top North East Dj’s and professional performances from the event instructors.

The instructors:

Emmanuel De Oliveira - Rueda de Casino, Zouk
Originally from Brazil but currently lecturing at Durham university, Emmanuel has great passion for Latin Dance and will be teaching Rueda de Casino, and Zouk. Zouk is a style of rhythmic music originating from the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Zouk means "party" or "festival" so it's certainly fits in well for ¡Vamos!. Through his young and energetic approach to his teaching, Emmanuel exudes charisma and enthusiasm and his teaching aims to show students how to dance with passion and warm up the dance floor with ease.

Colin & Donna - Funky Latin Infusion
Funky Latin Infusion was born in Preston 12 years ago. Colin was totally hooked after winning the North West Championships and went on to compete in the British Championships. Colin and Donna first brought their funky and energetic style to the North East in 2002 and continued to teach New York salsa style in various locations. They are regular guest teachers at numerous events and weekender's both nationally and internationally and their enthusiasm never wavers.

Natalie & Marcus - Kizomba Newcastle
Marcus studied Kizomba dance at Miami Beach, Angola, and with his lovely wife Natalie, they run regular classes around the North East: always a popular couple on the dance floor, they have a passion for Kizomba.

Edinson Ramirez - Colombian salsa
Edinson originally from Cali, Colombia- the world's Salsa capital, has been teaching Salsa for many years in Newcastle. An energetic fun instructor who always gets the party going, he has been part of the salsa scene throughout his life. He has a great following for his weekly lessons and was also involved in various festivals and Salsa events including ¡VAMOS! 2010.

Leo Morantes - Bachata and Cha Cha Cha
Colombian artist based in Newcastle with vast experience in dancing and teaching, he currently works for Gateshead Adult Learning and Skills where he delivers Social and Latin American dance courses. Winner of the Tutor of the Year Award 2009, Leo makes dancing an enjoyable and meaningful experience.

Carol Clarke - Zumba Fitness
Zumba Fitness is a new Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, and contagious steps to form a "fitness-party" that is downright addictive, If you have'nt tried it yet check it out you will have fun and lose weight fast with this great workout!

Dj Monntunno 
Passionate Salsa Dura Dj, currently part of the X Salsa team running nights in Newcastle and Durham. Producer of Newcastle Salsa Podcast "salsabaratiando". After many years listening and studying Salsa music he became a Salsa DJ under the nickname of Dj MonntunnO, playing in private events and venues in Colombia and the UK. He was part of the ¡VAMOS! festival 2010 participating in varios events with great success: History of salsa, the Saltwell Park Picnic and Ola Verano.

DJ David B, Salsa-Amor @ the Black Swan
Resident DJ and promoter of the popular Salsa club night in Newcastle. David has been DJing for 7 years, ever since he was inspired to bring top quality Salsa music to the North East, having travelled the UK to attend some of the best dance venues. In 2010 he participated in Ola Verano, part of ¡VAMOS! festival.

Sam Mills - XSALSA
Discovered Salsa a decade ago and has travelled the world's congresses enjoying dancing many styles. He has an enthusiasm for dance that is hard to match regularly helping out at events throughout the region. He promotes and supports all the venues and formed X Salsa shortly after being asked to promote Salsa in a large Newcastle night club as a team of twelve they run regular classes and events in the North East.
