image Cadencia
Cadencia hail from the dusty and unforgettably beautiful climes of Seville,Spain. Part of an ever-changing ‘Nuevo Flamenco’ movement, they combine the flamenco tradition with intoxicating elements of Middle Eastern, Latin and Celtic music. With guitar, flutes, djembe and searing vocals they meld together a sound that is both modern and personal. They have toured far and wide and we are thrilled to present their UK debut.

imageMomenta Quartet
Each of these four young New York-based musicians is pursuing an impressive solo and chamber music career in her own right. Between them they have a stunning array of recordings, awards, concerto and chamber music appearances under their belts. Together they are among the hottest exponents of the new classical quartet, champions of Latin American music and famed for their creative collaborations, most recently with our own Tyneside-based Bolivian Agustín Fernández. ¡VAMOS! is proud to be associated with CETL at Newcastle and Durham Universities for the workshop and the première of new works by young North East composers. Programme order: Arthur Kampela: Bridges for Solo Viola, Alejandro Garcia Caturla: Four Pieces for String Quartet, Kampela cello piece, Cergio Prudencio: Transfiguraciones and Agustin Fernandez: String Quartet no. 1 "Montes".

image Electro Flamenko (UK | Peru | Canary Isles)
Electro Flamenko kind of grew out of the first ¡VAMOS! Having won1st place in the CETL Latin Musics ¡VAMOS! competition these talented musicians formed the group. Now encompassing bass, VJs, and dancer/singer Maria Martinez, this international collective manage to evoke an intense romantic quality with VJ stylings whilst still creating a party atmosphere!

image Surface Area Dance Theatre (UK) 'Lirio Danca' (¡VAMOS!  Commission)
This young dance company have been making serious waves since their fully fledged debut production In Medias Res (2006). With an international outlook they recently travelled to Brasil and it is inspiration from this trip that led to this new commission. Bespoke audio is provided by James Postlethwaite and NOVAK Collective.

Northumbria fashion module (UK)
In September 2007, year 2 students of the BA (Hons) Fashion  Degree undertook a specific ‘¡VAMOS!’ module - drawing inspiration from all things Latino. Signature outfits from this
initiative are worn by the solo dancer Annabeth Berkeley for tonight’s performance.
