image Mayre Andrade
Winner of the 2008 BBC World Music Award in the Newcomer category, singer Mayra Andrade is the new Cape Verde diva, following in the footsteps of Cesariá Evora. Born of Cape Verdean parents in Cuba, Mayra spent part of her childhood in Angola, Senegal and Germany and is now resident in Paris. Her songs, mainly sung in Cape Verdean Creole, paint a beguiling picture of island life served with generous portions of mouth-watering melodies and delicious grooves. Performing with her Brazilian band Mayra is bound to charm the audience out of their seats.

imageAntonio Forcione
Hailed as the ‘Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar’, award-winning Italian guitarist Antonio Forcione is considered one of the most charismatic and inventive performers to come out of Europe in recent years. He breaks the mould of most conventional, popular guitar sounds be it in the field of jazz, Spanish, African, Brazilian or improvised music. International tours have brought high critical acclaim from as far as Australia and Hong Kong to Russia, the Caribbean, USA and all over Europe. Tonight he appears in a duo with Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale.
