Three years ago I took a career break to travel the world. But didn't get much further than South America. Anyone who's ever been will understand. The music, the culture, dance, food, the passion, the energy - unforgettable and addictive. Realisation dawned that I wasn't going to live happily ever after in Buenos Aires with my Argentinean lover (far too fiery!). So Instead I returned to my native North East one year later and several (make that fifteen) thousand pounds poorer.
Newcastle has never been renowned for its Latino connections but little did I know it has undergone a complete transformation in the last few years. (I'd been living in London, not walking around with my eyes closed). I first stumbled on ¡VAMOS! at the weekender last April. It was nothing short of amazing. The crowd, the culture - surely this couldn't be Newcastle? It was completely different to anything I'd ever experienced in the North before.
